I've set the anonymous authentication to DefaultAppPool, I've made sure that my app is in DefaultAppPool and I've given DefaultAppPool Write, Modfiy rights. I'm not a system administrator, we updated from II6 and Windows 2003 to a IIS 7 and Windows 2008 R2 server and the Network manager hasn't any experience with the new gear so I'm trying to sort this out

By changing the value to 'Detailed', my overridden error message was displayed -- SUCCESS! Therefore it appears that we are able to override the detailed error message by the approach above, but a custom error handler trumps this... Any workaround? I can think of a two-application system: main app using forms authentication and separate app for the Windows login page using windows authentication

you need to elevate the updater program to runas administrator, in your updater, you can do whatever you want, like downloading files from Internet, replacing files in application folder. In my programs I would prefer to have ini files in application directory, however, I do not have them there, only because I cannot have them there (on Windows)

Rowling give two or more unrelated characters the same first name in any of the 10 books? How do we know the human species arose in Africa? Is the speed of light in vacuum always the same value? Are flexible airline tickets ever worth it? i have a 1000 volt dc power source with milliamp current. How are you attempting to create the folder? Windows Explorer will generate a UAC prompt, so I'm assuming you're using some other method? If you are doing it from a command prompt, make sure it is running with elevated privileges

You can do this manually by right clicking on the folder, selecting properties, security tab, advanced button, owner tab, edit button, select yourself as the new owner and click the apply to subfolders and files checkbox and click ok. This will make you the owner and have full permissions, you then tweak the permissions as required to allow both you and the user access and if you wish set the owner back to the original user
