Ossification of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament: A Review of Literature

  http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3230657/
For the cases requiring multi-segment anterior decompression, the anterior decompression and fusion with cage only with posterior augmentation with instrumented fusion is considered to be a useful method of reducing the risk of soft tissue damage or graft related complications, and prevents progression of kyphosis in the mid to long-term follow-up. The degree of spinal stenosis can be measured using the ratio between the anteroposterior diameter of the spinal canal and the maximum thickness of OPLL mass in the same segment, which is found in the lateral view radiographs or in CT.Since thoracic spine or thoracolumbar OPLL, and ossification of yellow ligament are commonly accompanied with the OPLL cases, examination on the whole spine is necessary, and CT or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is useful in this case because plain radiological exams have limitations

In answer to your question, my head was resting in the middle of the pillow, but when I woke up my head was turned, supported by the angular slope on the side. I was looking to purchase a latex pillow, but after reading your mattress recommendation regarding memory foam mattress toppers, I was wondering what your opinion is of the Z dough memory foam pillow? Do you believe it is similar to the latex or a close enough fit? Pricing between both is extreme

Therefore the next step in management is to obtain an MRI of the cervical spine.Epstein et al discussed how to approach patients that are symptomatic from both cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis

You see most of the time, at least with the patients I have treated, you have some back pain or maybe you have some pain that travels into your legs or into your arms or that sort of thing, and that pain causes you to see a doctor about this. I'll talk about everything you can expect to happen when you see your doctor and ways that you can make sure your doctor is doing the right things for you

Guest over a year ago Get a second ,third or as many opinions as it takes to get better don't just settle for a Gp, chiro, Pysio or natrpath go to the best see a neoro surgeon who has a proven track record. I even saw neurosurgeon who thinks the MRI do not correlate with clinical picture, so I had an EMG which showed no carpal tunnel but some kind of nerve pathology

What do these MRI results mean? (C-Spine) - Neurology - MedHelp

There is degenerative disc disease and facet joint arthropathy throughout the cervical and upper thoracic spine with a few levels of severe facet joint arthropathy. The findings above and below the fusion are do not require surgery, but you may benefit from interventional pain treatments like injections or nerve ablations that can help control the pain spine disease

Lately though, with the help of Tylenol PM, I am able to rest some, but within an hour of rising, those recurring symptoms of my head feeling heavy and pain in my neck now extend into my upper back through to my mid-chest. The numbness continued to the point that I lost use of the arm and it extended down into my right foot and leg and eventually into the right side of my face

Do I want to chance having this surgery then having to have more surgeries, more pain, and more pain meds? Is this surgery guranteeing my return to work? What if I don't have the surgery, do I want to continue through my life in pain where in affects my everyday life? Answers please. while the surgery itself was a success from a neurological standpoint, like so many others that have posted, the post surgical muscle spasms, nerve pain, and physical limitations after always being physically active have been difficult for me

Sometimes I resign to thinking maybe I can just live with the pain and weakness for the rest of my life but I've seen other posts here where people say their docs warned them a fall or serious bump could leave them paralyzed if they didn't remedy their injury with surgery. One thing I am wondering is ok, say I have this surgery and get the herniated disc taken care of but I will still have a bulging disc just beneath it so am I going to continue having the same type of problems since I have two discs with problems but they are only talking about operating on the worst one? I am so tired of being pressured to have this surgery and nobody seems to understand what I'm going through or why I'm so afraid

Broad Based Herniated Disc

  http://www.herniated-disc-pain.org/broad-based-herniated-disc.html
I always advise patients to learn all the facts about herniated discs before seeking any type of treatment and also getting at least 2 to 3 different opinions from a variety of care providers, including an orthopedist and a neurologist. The terminology used here is really quite irrelevant to patients, but these names often provide some degree of confusion on MRI and CT scan reports, so it is always a good idea to understand what they mean, at least in a very basic sense

CaliforniaMD is online now I have in my C6-C7 broad based central disc protrusion, which Customer Question I have in my C6-C7 broad based central disc protrusion, which slightly lateralizes left, and centrally extends below the disc space level. the actual pressure my be even greater when you are up and about than when you lie down flat (such as in the MRI machine).this is a dangerous situation and the pressure from the disc herniation on the spinal cord and the nerves needs to be relieved

In essence...you have 2 herniated discs...one worse than the other...clearly they are concerned about the fact that it is "pushing" against your spinal cord...the discs are also "pinching" off the nerves which is causing your numbness and pain. Once you have the surgery you will feel immediate relief however you could be proned to be proned to future surgeries as the adjacent disc's become stressed
