Enough in some cases I've dealt with that users have been able to heat an entire room just with computers! It's easy to see a situation where one room is too hot from overuse, and other parts of the dwelling can be too cold from ambient temperatures. Undoubtedly, they will face an ever increasing demand for total internal environment control as the impact of the many years of reckless energy policies take their over whelming grip on the mother Earth
Graham Cogley a professor at Ontario Trent University, claims this inaccurate stating the UN authors got the date from an earlier report wrong by more than 300 years. There is no convincing empirical evidence that past climate was unchanging, nor that 20th century changes in average global temperature were unusual or unnatural
Press Release: The 1995 Nobel Prize in Chemistry
Paul Crutzen, Mario Molina and Sherwood Rowland have all made pioneering contributions to explaining how ozone is formed and decomposes through chemical processes in the atmosphere. Molina and Rowland realised that the chemically inert CFC could gradually be transported up to the ozone layer, there to be met by such intensive ultra-violet light that they would be separated into their constituents, notably chlorine atoms
EPA coordinates numerous regulatory programs designed to help the ozone layer and continues to be active in developing international ozone protection policies. In 1987, the Montreal Protocol was signed and the signatory nations committed themselves to a reduction in the use of CFCs and other ozone-depleting substances
Located in the stratosphere, the ozone layer protects life from ultraviolet rays that cause problems ranging from damaged crops to increased risk of skin cancer. Why CFCs Still Exist It's difficult to phase out some CFCs, such as the pesticide methyl bromide -- it's still in production because no suitable replacement exists
Whatever Happened to the Ozone Hole?
But in May 1985 scientists with the British Antarctic Survey shocked the world when they announced the discovery of a huge hole in the ozone layer over Antarctica. These UV rays can cause skin cancer and cataracts in humans, as well as reproductive problems in fish, crabs, frogs, and even in the single-celled phytoplankton at the bottom of the ocean food chain
NASA has been monitoring the status of the ozone layer through satellite observations since the 1970s, beginning with the TOMS sensors on the Nimbus satellites. For example, the National Ozone Expedition (NOZE) measured elevated levels of the chemical chlorine dioxide (OClO) during the springtime ozone hole from McMurdo Research Station
The link to the greenhouse effect is that the same activities which release most of the carbon dioxide also release most of the nitrogen-oxide gases which provide the source materials for making ozone when the Sun shines brightly. The first problem is the pollution of the lower atmosphere, called the troposphere, with ozone which largely results from photochemical reactions involving man-made emissions from industry and automobiles ("smog" or "photo-smog")
Do they purposely inject their own prejudices into the science and only study things that humans impact on this planet? What if it came out in 30 years that because they ignored water and ignored what animals and plants do to the planet from an astrophysics standpoint that we run out of time to actually counter the problems? And therein lies the problem. Scientific theory and evidence suggest that, once emitted to the atmosphere, these compounds could significantly deplete the stratospheric ozone layer that shields the planet from damaging UV-B radiation. Primatene Mist With Chlorofluorocarbons No Longer Available After Dec. 31, 2011
Epinephrine CFC inhalers, marketed as Primatene Mist, are being phased out because they use CFCs as a propellant (spray) to move the medicine out of the inhaler so patients can breathe the medicine into their lungs
HSC Online - Chemical monitoring and management: 4. Human activity and the atmosphere
International agreements, such as the Montreal protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer (1987), helped to manage the situation by reducing the production and use of CFCs. Formation of a coordinate covalent bond in the hydronium ion Formation of a coordinate covalent bond in the ammonium ion compare the properties of the oxygen allotropes O2 and O3 and account for them on the basis of molecular structure and bonding
The best paper explaining this in the literature is Velders et al (2009) and briefing papers by the Environmental Investigation Agency are well worth reading in order to track this issue. Please find below links to selected publications by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) related to environmental and health effects of stratospheric ozone depletion, its monitoring, and regulation. Worrest, former Senior Research Scientist at CIESIN, created a bibliography consisting of scientific papers and materials related to the environmental effects of stratospheric ozone depletion
CFCs escaping from airconditioners and refrigerators in the nothern hemisphere sneaking down to the antarctic where these rather heavy molecules were magically lifted up against gravity to go up into the stratosphere where they were disassociated into chlorine atoms while ocean spray chlorine ions were washed out of the atmosphere by rain just like the chlorine atoms injected into the stratosphere by an active volcano down there. Surely, if we calculate the volume of ozone in the collar we could see if it can be distributed over the hole demonstrating how much, if any, ozone has been actually lost
Global warming caused by chlorofluorocarbons, not carbon dioxide, new study says
If heat from sunlight falling onto Venus is analogous to Earth then why is there virtually no temperature difference on the day side surface of Venus than the night side even despite its very slow surface wind speeds and incredibly slow turn rate? If the weather effects are supposed to be analogous then how is the near complete lack of convection churning in Venus' atmosphere supposed to translate to Earth's very dynamic convection components? We don't know. Still: Models based on real data represent reality better than no models (I am certain that's why you build model, too). And it's not like climate scientists are doing this since yesterday
In 1992, reacting to the latest scientific assessment of the ozone layer, the Parties to the Protocol decided to completely end production of halons by the beginning of 1994 and of CFCs by the beginning of 1996 in developed countries. UVB has been linked to many harmful effects, including various types of skin cancer, cataracts, and harm to some crops, certain materials, and some forms of marine life

Other Information The University Center for Atmospheric Research web site provide detailed background information and the environmental effects associated with reduced ozone concentrations in the Polar Regions in the Antarctic and Arctic. Chemical reactions on the particle surface converts the non-ozone destroying molecules HCl and ClONO2 into Cl2, building up a reservoir of Cl2 during the winter

Chlorofluorocarbon - definition of chlorofluorocarbon by The Free Dictionary
CFC Any of various halocarbon compounds consisting of carbon, hydrogen, chlorine, and fluorine, once used widely as aerosol propellants and refrigerants. any of several compounds of carbon, fluorine, chlorine, and hydrogen, used chiefly as refrigerants and formerly as aerosol propellants; implicated in the depletion of atmospheric ozone
The Ozone Hole-Chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs
CFCs have a lifetime in the atmosphere of about 20 to 100 years, and consequently one free chlorine atom from a CFC molecule can do a lot of damage, destroying ozone molecules for a long time. Other commercial names from around the world are Algofrene, Arcton, Asahiflon, Daiflon, Eskimo, FCC, Flon, Flugene, Forane, Fridohna, Frigen, Frigedohn, Genetron, Isceon, Isotron, Kaiser, Kaltron, Khladon, Ledon, Racon, and Ucon
