Geographic Description: From its source in the Serra do Mar, not far from the Atlantic coast, the Rio Iguazu (or Iguassu) flows westward for about 820 miles across southern Brazil. According to legend, the great waterfall was created in an outburst of rage by the god of the Iguazu River, who lived in a particularly wild and violent area of the downpour called the Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat)
This is the biggest waterfall in Iguazu, and even though we had already been at the falls for hours by the time we jumped onto the train to the viewing platforms, this was such a highlight to the day. We fly sometimes (rarely!) without each other, but are always together when we go through land borders, so it felt strange to worry about visa stamps, hearing Portuguese and dealing with a new currency all while Jess was back at the hostel
Prior to my trip, I read several reviews on spending a day in Colonia, and a lot of people said to give it a miss, saying it was boring when compared with Buenos Aires. Have a great trip!
