Read somewhere else that need to close Odin, switch off the phone, pull out the battery for a few seconds and then put back and repeat the steps for upgrading as mentioned above
Also, uninstall Kies from the Control Panel as well (this will leave the drivers on the computer but remove Kies which can interfere with the procedure)
