http://askubuntu.com/questions/3934/is-it-possible-to-use-remote-desktop-from-windows-7-to-ubuntu
There is an RDP server implementation for Linux called xrdp but development has fallen behind and the RDP client in Windows 7 won't talk to the older version of RDP that it uses. I agree with most of the others that it would probably be best to install a VNC viewer on the Windows computer and use the vnc sharing built in to Ubuntu 12.04

However, whenever trying to trigger Ctrl-Alt-Del function on remote system connected via Remote Desktop Connection, the keyboard shortcut combination pressed will bring up the Ctrl+Alt-Del function on the local machine instead of the machine remotely logged on via RDC. To RDP to a Windows Server 2012 VM hosted on Azure, you need to ensure that you have opened the endpoint in the Azure portal (think of it like a firewall ACL) in Azure, and also make sure RDP (port 3389-in) is allowed through the Windows Firewall as well. Or did I miss what you were asking about? FWIW, I have the Remote Admin tools feature on my 2012 servers and did the above and it works like you are asking

The two commands also differs in how the keybindings are handled, * First command : if you press alt+tab (keyboard shortcut for switching windows), it doesn't switch windows from Ubuntu desktop, it switches from the remote Windows desktop. * If you have a weak Windows login password (such as john1, aaaaaaaaaaaaa, abcabc), change it to a stronger password that is longer than 10 characters and that is not a combination of words that can be found on a dictionary

Write down that IP address (192.x.x.x or something similar) and type that number exactly into the remote desktop text box on the other computer (the computer you are connecting from). You can figure out the IP address of your router by going to any computer on your network (that you want to connect into) and opening the command prompt like we did above and typing ipconfig again

Open Event Viewer and then it will probably be under "Application and Service Logs", I think it shows as Terminal Services, but there might be one for Remote Desktop Services. If you find one to enable, drill into and I think it shows a "Trace log" or something, you will then right-click it and should be an option to enable log or start log
